The jump rope that kept the “Quarantine 15” away
To say that going into this quarantine had me shook, would be an understatement because I LOVE to eat! I LOVE food. I LOVE snacks. I love to eat when I’m happy. I’ll eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s with ease – happy, sad or bored. I knew I’d spent a lot of time bored since outside was officially closed, and of course I’d spend my time eating. For a bit, I did just that. I went to the grocery store & Target on a regular basis. What else was there to do? While folks were buying toilet paper in bulk, I was busy buying family-sized Oreo Thins and…

Take the guesswork out of your hydration…
Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated? That’s a lot and I’m absolutely apart of this 75%. You likely are too, and that’s why you should take the guess work out of your hydration and get the Soma Carafe. The Soma Carafe is stylishly designed to look great on your countertop, fridge, or as a centerpiece on your kitchen table. Its sleek design is what initially drew me to purchase the carafe. How the pandemic forced me to embrace my vitiligo…
Imagine growing up your teen – 20’s and barely ever having a pimple. Now, imagine going on vacation for a week at thirty-three, and returning not just with a tan, but with a pale white spot in the middle of your cheek. Imagine the panic as that pin prick of a spot spreads. Imagine the concern as you watch yet another white spot spread across the bottom on your chin. Well, this was me. As a teenager and into my early 20’s when most of my friends were battling acne, and putting toothpaste on developing pimples, I barely got one. My cycle would come and go, my hormones would change,…

Me in a nutshell…
So, now that I have my first post under my belt, I figure I should introduce myself to you to give you a bit more insight into who I am. My name is Kourtney – with a “K.” My middle name is Renee, hence Kay Renee. Most people call me Kourt, although, it kind of bothers me when people first meet me and take the liberty to shorten my name. Other people call me Kay. To my son, I’m “Mom.” I have a 6-year-old little boy, who is going on sixteen and has to be consistently reminded that he is six, and I’m the boss around these parts! I’m a…

Not my typical Sunday at 9pm…
It’s Sunday and 9pm and while I would typically be laying down for bed, scrolling through the TV guide to find an episode of Law & Order: SVU, I am sitting on the floor typing, what could very well be my first blog post. I love to write. I always have. There was a time where I thought I wanted to be a writer. Win a Pulitzer Prize. Live on a commune full of other writers, as we retreated to small cabins tucked away in the woods, where guided meditation began each morning and Namaste’s were exchanged before settling down to write. The dream died as reality set in. Deadlines,…
