New Year and Better Sleep with Bare©

As the world ready’s themselves for the new year, I sit to reflect on what impression it’s left with me. 2020 has been a year unlike any other.  It’s forced us to look at what’s truly important and has taught us some real heavy life lessons. If this year has taught me anything, it is the importance of sleep.  Yes – SLEEP! Now, I know what you’re thinking, “after the year we just had, this one walks away reflecting on sleep?!”  That’s exactly what I’m reflecting on. If the year has taught us anything, it’s the importance of taking care of self, and for my overall health, my sanity, and self-preservation, it’s most definitely, at the top of my list of key takeaways from the year.

Sleep is defined to mean a condition of body and mind that typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relatively inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and consciousness practically suspended. It’s the “suspended consciousness” for me – but somehow, has been the hardest to achieve.

To help achieve the “suspended consciousness” my body (and mind) require in order to properly function, I decided to look into getting a weighted blanket.  Don’t roll your eyes and think, “just another THING, said to help achieve a whole other THING.” I can’t say I’d fault you too much because, I had the exact same reaction, but when I started noticing that my brain was increasingly foggier than usual, and my attitude veered on the edge of unbearable, I knew I had to do something to achieve a better night’s sleep.

A weighted blanket is a blanket with some type of “fill” to make them heavier than an average blanket. These types of blankets are said to provide a soothing, calming effect, similar to a warm hug.  This pressure from the extra weight, mimics a therapeutic technique called deep pressure stimulation.  A study in the Journal of Sleep Medicine & Disorders found that sleeping with a weighted blanket, had a positive impact on sleep by aiding people with insomnia a calmer’s night sleep, as they experienced fewer movements and more sleep time.

The Bare© Home weighted blanket offers the perfect solution to those sleepless nights. The blanket is designed to mimic the sensation of being held and also helps to relieve stress and anxiety, making for a deeper, longer sleep.  The issue I found in achieving a decent night’s sleep was actually staying asleep, due to my anxious brain. I’m an over-thinker when awake, so imagine being a working, homeschooling mom of a 6-year-old, in the middle of a pandemic. EXACTLY!  So, finding myself sitting upright in the middle of the bed, considering my life, was happening way too frequently for my liking.  With the weight of this blanket, when I do find myself awake at 2am, I am quickly able to ease back into the peaceful sleep I need to function the next day.  While you may worry that a weighted blanket of this kind would leave you feeling hot and stuffy in the middle of the night, the nontoxic sand-like glass bead filling actually makes the ideal combo for breathability and pressure! Weight does not equal heat when it comes to this 100% cotton, hypo-allergenic blanket.

After using this blanket over this last month, I’ve honestly noticed a clear difference in how I am able to function after getting a deeper night’s sleep.  The restlessness that I experienced before using the blanket, the tossing and turning, have all but vanished when using the Bare© Home weighted blanket.  It’s the refreshed feeling for me!  Waking up from a full night’s sleep, is a treasure to behold!  And with the way this past year was set up – I’m most DEFINITELY going to do all I can to behold this treasure well into 2021. So, here’s to a new year, new you, with better sleep with Bare©.

Be Encouraged.

And happy sleeping!

Sis, I was wowed too because I totally thought it was a gimmick. The first few nights, it did take some getting used to the weight to it, but that refreshed feeling was incredible. It definitely has helped ease me into sleep because you know my mind keeps running even after I lay down. It’s truly been helping me sleep much better and I need my sleep to keep looking like fine wine now that Im in the 40 age group! LOL.

As a person who suffers from anxiety, depression and PTSD this sounds like a great investment. I suffer from wrestless and sleepless nights due to insomnia and my brain is constantly overworking in think and plan mode. I’ve seen this in my search for tools to help me cope, but was yet another skeptic. Until…. I checked my email and saw your new blog post with a rather convincing and honest review I was sold. Thanks for sharing!

YES! After I got the blanket, I started researching and had been seeing loads of research on how helpful it has proven to be with those managing anxiety, etc. My brain seems to never want to stop sometimes and seems to RAMP up at bedtime, but now with this blanket, it quiets my mind faster than me laying in bed staring at the ceiling. I’m so glad that you found this informative and I hope to keep sharing things that have helped me. Thanks sis!
